N.T. Wright Surprised By Colbert

I don’t always agree with Bishop N.T. Wright, but he is always worth listening to. His attempts at explanation are often thwarted in the video below. Maybe his next book will be on Simple Christian Apologetics In A Comedic Setting.

As amazing as it is to say, Steve Colbert shows much more respect for his guests of religious viewpoints than does Jon Stewart.
It’s easy to get caught off guard by the totally zany way Colbert works with his guests, but I am coming to see him as a master of wisecracks while letting his visitors have their say.
There are some of us suited for proclamation on Comedy Central; others suited for proclamation at London’s Hyde Park (http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2008/june/21.34.html), and others like me who proclaim with a sock puppet theologian on You Tube between chemotherapy infusions. (ok, that was weak, but that’s why I’m not on the Colbert Report).
I am pleased to see this kind of dialogue.
I think you should send one of your sock puppet YouTube videos to Colbert. I think that would be an excellent on the road interview for one of their “corespondents.”
Actually, I’m pretty impressed with how the Bishop handled himself. I’m with you, that I don’t always agree with him, and I find it surprising that he thinks the resurrection after an intermediate state is surprising, but I still like a lot of what he does. I got to frame an interview Dr. Johnson did with him a couple of weeks ago on Jerry Johnson Live, and I thought he was pretty good there too. Thanks for posting the video of the Colbert interview.
