Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed

April 28, 2008

Ben Stein ExpelledBen Stein has done the unthinkable. He has become an advocate of something that our academic institutions and the gatekeepers of accepted Science absolutely will not tolerate. He has advocated freedom of inquiry. How dare he suggest that PhDs in mathematics, physics, and genetics be allowed to question the dogma of the scientific elite? Doesn’t he know that Science is about unquestioning acceptance of the theories of our predecessors? Where would we be if Newton and Einstein had the audacity to question the accepted theories of their day?

In the documentary Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, Ben Stein narrates an expose of the narrow mindedness of the scientific elite. It reveals how even some who have barely considered the scientific arguments of Intelligent Design have lost jobs and been effectively excluded from the scientific community. Those who dare to question the sacred fact of Darwinism with profane questions rising out of their work in genetics or math are said to be unscientific. As Richard Dawkins points out in the movie, their science is not real science; it is superstition. And, as he explains, if there really is design then it is probably the result of space aliens seeding the Earth with life. Design? No! Space aliens? Yes. That is the answer of real science.

A quick Google search will reveal that those who worship the golden calf of Darwinism hate this movie. That is probably the best reflection of its success. If it did not hit a raw nerve they would have simply ignored it.  However, he has attacked the crown of the pope (Darwin) and the belly of the monks (the gatekeepers of Accepted Science) .

The movie is artistically woven together, its premise is clearly stated and substantiated, and the satirical humor it employs was entertaining. I liked it. I would like to see it again but don’t want to spend another $18 ($8 – ticket, $5.25 – popcorn, $4.75 – Coke).
