Best Amazing Grace Recording
What is the best audio recording of Amazing Grace? This week I was at a party for my brother-in-law in which each of the guests had contributed a favorite song for a compilation CD. One of those attending had selected Elvis’ recording of Amazing Grace. They explained, “Everyone knows it is the best recording of Amazing Grace, ever.” Really? This particular “everyone” doesn’t know that. I like Elvis, but am not particularly fond of his rendition of Amazing Grace.
So, my question is, which is the best recording of Amazing Grace ever?
Here are some of those that I know of. Feel free to contribute others in the comment area below.

Okay, there are a few for you to consider. Amazon lists 3,213 Mp3 downloads for “Amazing Grace” so I am sure this list is just the top of the iceberg. Which is your favorite?

LeAnn Rimes has the best one.
I heard a few takes tonight on my computer of Amazing Grace. I dont think you have these ladies listed, they are from Louisiana, nice ladies, a lil group called Les Amies Des Louisian or something like that…Friends of Louisiana translation. The song is completely in French – if you have a dry eye after hearing this most absolutely best of all renditions (sp?) of Amazing Grace, I will buy you a steak!! That will be played at my funeral come “hell, high water, or half of Georgia.” And where did that saying come from anyway??? The harmony is simply and unquestionably out of sight!!! See if you can find their CD – I bought like 10 copies and gave to friends.
Update, 1 hr later – just found my CD – that correct spelling and name of these 4 most gracious Cajun ladies is Les Amies Louisianaises – album name – La Musique Unique des Acadiens.
In fact, one of the singers told me over the phone, the reasons they did this, was because of their song of Amazing Grace at Cajun funerals….
Best always!!!
Hear for yourself….some may like, some may not. But these ladies put some of the “stars” to shame, OK, my opinion!!

Please help: I am looking for an album with a cut of Amazing Grace on it that was the most amazing and uplifting I ever heard. My roommate and I listened to it a thousand timesand it always brought to tears.
I do not know the name of the album or the band.
It was a brass band that featured a flugal horrn.
It was in the mid 70’s.
If anyone has any information, please let me know!!!
Blessing on you
